Let Them Eat Cake - In Liguria!

Viaggio nel Medioevo
Viaggio nel Medioevo
The two-day Torta Dei Fieschi is one of the oldest events in Italian folk culture, dating back hundreds of years. It starts with the ‘Addiu du Fantin’, a medieval reconstruction of the bachelor party of Count Opizzo Fieschi which includes dancing, ancient music and historical flag games. On the second night is a theatrical performance of the marriage of Bianca De’ Bianchi with Opizzo Fieschi, better known as ‘Torta dei Fieschi’ (Fieschi’s Cake).

The event is marked with an enormous 13-ton wedding cake, prepared for the annual occasion by local Ligurian confectioners and distributed to the event attendees!

And, if that weren’t enough, the region is set to stage a series of cultural events this year.
