Monsters, Jack-O’Lanterns And – Of Course! – Fossils: It’s Half-Term At Scarborough Museums And Galleries!

Spookily-inspired crafting workshops – plus, of course, the ever-popular fossil handling sessions – are on offer at Scarborough Museums and Galleries this October half-term.

All the activities will take place at either the Rotunda Musuem, or Scarborough Art Gallery.

Andrew Clay, Chief Executive of SMG, says:
“After a busy summer of activities at Scarborough Museums and Galleries, we can’t wait for half term to begin. As cauldrons bubble, spiders weave their webs and the trees take on their autumnal hues, we are looking forward to helping you get into the Halloween spirit. So, dust down your skeleton suit and witch’s hat for some spooky fun at the Rotunda and Art Gallery! We can’t wait to see you.”

Half term activities are:

Fossil handling:
Find out about dinosaur footprints and ancient fossils in hands-on sessions with expert geologists.
Rotunda Museum, Tuesday 31 October, 10.30am-noon and 1.30pm-3pm

Creature Crafting: Take part in some fang-tastic crafts so you can make your own marvellous monster.
Scarborough Art Gallery, Wednesday 1 November, 10am-1pm and 2pm- 4pm

Pumpkin Pots: Learn how to make your very own Jack-o’-Lantern tealight holder with airdry clay, perfect for lighting up cold nights this spooky season!

All the sessions are suitable for children aged from five to 11, and are drop-in sessions, so no need to book – although at busy times, the museum or gallery staff may limit numbers for the safety and comfort of visitors.

All the activities are free, but adults require an Annual Pass to enter. A £3 Adult Annual Pass allows entry to both Scarborough Art Gallery and the Rotunda Museum. Entry to both venues is free for under-18s.
