More Than 90% Of The UK Concerned About Pollution

A survey conducted by the environmental campaign Unblocktober has found that 93% of the UK are concerned or extremely concerned about pollution entering our environment.

6/10 (62%) are specifically worried about the environmental damage caused by putting the wrong items down the toilet and drain, while 70% are concerned or extremely concerned about the environmental impacts of poor drain health.

Jacob Larkin, Unblocktober spokesperson said:
“The growing concern from the British public surrounding pollution is encouraging. as it shows that environmental campaigns such as Unblocktober are having an impact on the awareness of the impact of their actions.

“We are also seeing the British public recognise specific terms relating to pollution, with 91% of those surveyed having heard of the term fatberg, compared to 82% of people in the 2022 survey.

“The impact of the awareness is being seen in action too, with Unblocktober now having received over 70,000 signups to the Unblocktober pledge to improve drain health. We are so pleased that the British public are engaging with Unblocktober and helping to save our sewers and seas.”
