New Bakery For North Yorkshire
![Bethan and Sam]()
Bethan and Sam
Ambry Bakery has officially opened it's doors this week at The Courtyard Dairy, near Settle.
Bethan and Sam of Ambry Bakery are experienced bakers hailing from the rave reviewed Nordish (in Saltaire) which they owned and ran from 2018-2021, before migrating to Scotland for two years to hone their trade at the prestigious Wild Hearth Bakery.
Returning to Yorkshire earlier this year they had been looking for someone to set up their own bakery within North Yorkshire. Finding space in The Courtyard Dairy's old cheese maturing rooms, they converted it to a bijou artisan bakery using only Yorkshire organic stone-ground flour.
Bethan was overjoyed to be back baking in Yorkshire:
"Sam and I are thrilled to have set up near to Settle, the locals have been so warm and welcoming in supporting us throughout our bread experiments this summer and we're both overjoyed to be open and baking fresh artisan bread, pastries and galettes."
Their baked goods are already achieving renowned with Graham Kirkham (of Lancashire cheese fame) declaring it "The best Eccles cake I've ever had" and the sewing bee's Patrick Grant, raving about their "utterly delicious Yorkshire sourdough and other wonderful baked treats - the Eccles cakes are banging!"
Beth & Sam called their bakery Ambry', an old English name for pantry, from the old French word 'panetrie' meaning 'bread room' and are open Thu-Sat 9.30-15.30 every week.
