North Yorkshire Tourism Gets 16% Boost
Squire's Cafe Bar Campsite near Selby, N Yorks
Europe’s largest outdoor accommodation provider has revealed that North Yorkshire’s caravanning and camping sites saw a 16% increase in bookings in 2019 compared with the previous year.
North Yorkshire is now the company’s third best-selling UK destination, with camping and caravanning bookings through the site generating well over £1.2 million to the local economy, equating to a whopping £6 million in actual visitor spend across the county.
Squire’s Café Bar near Selby, topped the county’s bestseller list. With almost 2,000 bookings made in 2019, the campsite attached to a popular bikers’ café, was one of the website’s top-selling campsites, not just in the UK but globally, last year.
Commenting on the increase, Dan Yates, founder of
Pitchup.com, said: “2019 was an unsettled year, with uncertainty surrounding Brexit leading to decreased consumer spending.
"However, Brits were still looking for a quality holiday - just one closer to home and at a good price - so it comes as little surprise that one of the UK’s favourite holiday destinations, North Yorkshire, saw a real boost of interest in its camping and caravanning sites.”
Squire’s Cafe Bar offers well-maintained tent, motorhome or caravan pitches on the outskirts of Selby. Pitches start from just £5 per night.
