Plan Your Journeys For Great Yorkshire Show
With around 17,000 visitors expected to attend this year’s Great Yorkshire Show, drivers are being advised to allow extra times for their journeys.
The four-day event which starts on Tuesday 13 July is one of the biggest agricultural shows and takes place at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
On Highways England’s network the A1(M) Junction 47 northbound exit slip road will be closed each day from 6am. There will also be traffic signals at the Junction 47 southbound exit slip road. Both measures will be reviewed each day.
Highways England Regional Operations Manager Dave Skupski said:
“This year, as we did in 2019, we will close the northbound exit slip road at junction 47. This will make it safer for drivers by preventing queueing on the hard shoulder and lane one. Anyone heading to the show should have left the A1(M) at Junction 46 but can travel to junction 48 and turn to use junction 47 if not.
“We advise drivers to follow the clearly signed routes to the show, using junction 46 for Wetherby when travelling north and junction 47 travelling south.
“Anyone travelling through that area over the four days is advised to allow extra time for their journey or to plan an alternative route if they aren’t attending the show.”
