Preview: Antara Duo - Skipton Music
Following the huge sell-out success of the Barbican String Quartet, the third concert in Skipton Music’s season will be by The Antara Duo. Featuring Thomas Hancox on flute and Rachel Wick on harp, they will perform a varied programme of music by CPE Bach, Mozart, Faure, and Britten.
The Antara Duo first started playing together in 2007 while undergraduates at the University of Oxford before going on to postgraduate study at the Royal Academy of Music. They are now much in demand throughout the country, with performances at the Cheltenham Festival, Wigmore Hall and Kensington Palace.
Thomas Hancox is principal flute of Northern Ballet in Leeds, co-principal flute of the Britten Sinfonia, and also works regularly as guest principal flute with the UK’s leading orchestras, including English National Opera. He is also a tutor on the ever-popular Flute Kitchen summer course organised by Windstruments of Bingley and held each year in Harrogate.
Rachel Wick works as a freelance harpist dividing her time between solo, chamber and orchestral performances as well as teaching and coaching, including the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music and the National Children’s Orchestra.
Tickets for the concert, which will take place Tuesday January 21 at Christ Church, Skipton are £17.50. They are available from skiptonmusic.org.uk
or the Box Office: 01756 799912. Skipton Music is always keen to welcome young people to their concerts, which is why tickets for accompanied school students cost only £1.
This concert is generously sponsored by Windstruments of Bingley and Music House of Harrogate.
