Prezzo 2 Course Menu - Yours For A Tenner!

The Eat Out To Help Out scheme might not have done much for our waistlines but it certainly got the customers back into participating restaurants.

To keep the diners coming back though there needs to be another incentive. Prezzo have delivered an Ace card with their Weekday Classics Set Menu - 2 courses for £10.00 on a Monday to Thursday. Go Friday to Sunday and the 2 courses will cost you £15.00 or 3 courses for £19.00.

We went to the White Rose Restaurant near Leeds. There is plenty of competition nearby especially if you want Italian food. Not surprisingly Prezzo was the most popular due to the 2 course menu. Apparently over 70% of diners choose this option.

I liked how our glasses had come out of the fridge and were cold enough to keep the iced soft drinks cold until the main course arrived.

There is plenty of choice on the set menu - even more at weekends. I tried the Giant Meatballs as a starter, drenched in pomodoro sauce with shavings of Italian cheese - I found them a tasty starter.

My chef friend decided upon the Tomato Bruschetta and was surprised at how large the serving was. Brushed with garlic and mixed herbs and drizzled with basil pesto he thought it was better than expected. Nice light base and not stodgy.

For mains you can choose between 10 options. We were recommended the new Bolognese Pizza, though there were other temptations such as Spaghetti Bolognese, Traditional Lasagne and Caesar Salad, amongst others.

The pizza came topped with Bolognese and sprinkles of mozzarella, red onion and rosemary with a kick of chilli. The Bolognese didn’t really taste that much, it was more a case of tasting the onion and cheese, though when I ate the chilli I was glad we had a jug of water on the side!

The new Honeycomb Smash Cheesecake sounded like a guilty pleasure. Mind you it is extra to the set course menu at £7.00 a slice, which seems a bit of a mis-mash when two courses cost £10.00.

My chef friend then goes on to inform me how much the whole cheesecake would have cost at source and tries to make me feel guilty when I am enjoying the crunchy honeycomb pieces with chocolate on a nice firm biscuit base.

As always the Prezzo at the White Rose Centre was excellent. As we put our coats on to leave it was reassuring to see that tables and seats were sanitized properly.

There is a one way system around the restaurant. It is worth going out of your way if you want a filling and tasty value for money meal.
