Big Schools’ Birdwatch is back for 2024!

Join thousands of other schools to find out which birds visit your school grounds. Together, we can make it count.

The Big Schools' Birdwatch is for every learner and taking part is as easy as 1, 2, 3

1. Download free resources

All you have to do is download the supporting resources which teachers and your class can use to take part in the Big Schools’ Birdwatch.

To get the resources needed just click here

2. Get Counting

Get counting in your school grounds any time from 8 January to 19 February 2024. Your free downloads include differentiated survey sheets, historical data sheets which show the average numbers of different species seen in previous years and more. Why not make Big Schools’ Birdwatch the first step you take to find what nature your school grounds attract?

3. Submit your results

Submit your results online. It’s easy to do with your class interactively on the whiteboard. We really want to know what you see, even if you see nothing at all. The last day for sending us your results is 19 February.

The Big Schools' Birdwatch is the school version of the Big Garden Birdwatch – the world's biggest garden wildlife survey. The event takes place over three days on 26, 27 and 28 January 2024 and further information can be found on the RSPB website rspb.org.uk/birdwatch
