Welcoming their fans to York’s Knavesmire racecourse, S Club's Jo, Tina, Rachel, Bradley, and Jon took a jubilant audience back to the time when pop music ruled the charts.
Armed with a catalogue of hits that flowed with ease, the five piece, all now in their forties, had the energy and exuberance for their that appeared to still be intact from the height of their success more than twenty years ago.
With no band on stage or dancers, the focus was on the five individual members, whose personalities took songs such as the disco-infused
Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You and
Don't Stop Movin' to a higher level; mix that with power ballads
Never Had a Dream Come True and
Two in a Million, and the result was always going to be a winning one.
As the Karaoke favourites
Reach sent the boisterous crowd into a frenzy, the thought of S Club representing Britain in the Eurovision Sing Contest seemed to be a viable option as the group finished on a winning streak where the odds had always been in their favour.
