Scotts Fish And Chips Hosts Coach Party With A Difference!

A North Yorkshire chippy has hosted a coach party with a difference when it partnered with a national business organisation staging a series of networking events.

Scotts Fish and Chips on the A64 at Bilborough, near York, was chosen by the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) as one of the venues to hold a business coaching session.

Sixteen FSB members were joined by two expert local business coaches – Dave Harper and Andrea Morrison - for the “coaching with chips” session, held in Scotts’ 100-seater restaurant, which was busy at the time with other diners including a number of traditional coach parties.

In between two presentations from the business coaches, the FSB party tucked into hot buffet including traditional fish and chips, gluten-free versions of Britain’s favourite dish, scampi, fishcakes and seasonal vegetables.

Last year the chippy was chosen by nearby micro brewery, Ainsty Ales, to launch its new range of canned beers, which attracted scores of real ale lovers.

Scotts Fish and Chips owner Tony Webster said: “We are a popular year-round destination for coach parties, including many from China, but this was the first time we have held a business coaching party.

“The FSB is increasing the engagement of its wider membership, hence holding coaching sessions and many other networking and training events, in different locations across North Yorkshire, such as Scotts.

“It was a very successful event and gave us a wonderful opportunity to showcase our venue, and food, to a new audience."

Carolyn Frank, FSB Development Manager for North Yorkshire said: “All our events are open to non-members, as well as FSB members, and this was a really enjoyable after work event for all who attended, thanks to Scott’s wonderful hospitality and venue and our taster sessions with two very different expert coaches as well as the tastiest buffet supper.

“It’s really important for small business owners and the self-employed not to work in isolation so networking events, coaching, co-working and collaborations are really key to their success."
