Selby Abbey - Christmas Celebration Of Voices And Brass

Established in 1883 York Railway Institute Band and Skipton Choral Society, established in 2013, join forces once again at Selby Abbey for an evening of carols and festive music on Saturday 14th December at 7.30pm in a Christmas Celebration of Voices and Brass.

A new arrangement of Ralph Vaughan William’s 'Fantasia on Christmas Carols’ for brass band and voices provides the centrepiece of the programme. The concert will also include newly arranged movements from Handel’s Messiah and favourite carols featuring soaring descants and triumphant brass band sounds.

York Railway Institute’s Musical Director David Lancaster has the band firing on all cylinders after a stunning concert in Selby Abbey with York Chapter House Choir performing the Mozart Requiem earlier this year, and Skipton Choral Society’s Musical Director Robert Webb has the choir in fine voice following their recent concert at Bolton Abbey.

Tickets priced Adults £15 and Under 18s & Students £5 are available in person from the Abbey Coffee Shop (open Mon-Sat: 10.30 - 15.30 & Sun: 13.30-15.30) and online at www.selbyabbey.org.uk
