September Wine Time - California

Next week marks the beginning of California Wine Month, a celebration of the sheer scale and diversity of the US state's wine scene.

Home to 138 American Viticultural Areas (AVA’s) and scattered over 800 miles, the Golden State produces 85 percent of US wine.

To celebrate California Wine Month, tipsy travellers can discover three of California’s lesser-known vinicultural festivals!

Harvest Celebration – Tri-Valley – 1-2 September 2019
Celebrate the exciting crush season at Livermore Valley, one of California’s most historic and lesser-known wine regions. Over twenty participating wineries will throw open their doors to the public, inviting visitors to wine tastings and arts and crafts workshop to the backdrop of live music. A tradition for over 35 years, Livermore’s Harvest Celebration is a sure-fire way to experience the California hospitality and excellent wines, without the hassle and price tag.

6th Annual Newport Beach Wine and Food Festival – Newport Beach - 3-6 October 2019
Newport Beach Wine and Food Festival is one of California's most exclusive, intimate and world-class epicurean event of the year. Visitors can enjoy incredible dishes prepared by celebrity chefs and local masters, taste bites from 40 different top restaurants with their executive chefs and sip over 250 varieties of wines, spirits and craft brews. VIP events, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, master sommelier tasting panels and interactive mixology courses will all be offered throughout the weekend festivities.

Vintner’s Holidays – Yosemite Mariposa County – Eight sessions between 3 November – 5 December 2019
