The 24th Sheffield Brownies were joined by Sheffield Litter Pickers on 17 June to help clean up St John’s Church Park, in S2, to keep to their Brownie Promise of serving the community and helping others. The Brownies, aged 7-10, managed to collect 12 bags of litter and a discarded road sign during their one-hour pick.

To add a fun element, they participated in a litter picking bingo to see how many different items they could cross off and what were the oddest items they could find - answers included a sofa cushion cover, part of a radio, a dirty nappy and some vinyl flooring. The winning group picked 89 items between them!

Neveah, 10, said "it's good to do something different, we don't do this at school".

Isla, 10, added "I really want to do more of this, we need to be good to the environment".

Julie Gay from Sheffield Litter Pickers said, “I’d like to thank 24th Brownies for working so hard to clean up in the community this evening. We collected 12 bags of litter in an hour. I had a great time”.

24th Sheffield Brownies meet on Monday evenings and are looking for new members.
