Show Off Your Cat On The Catwalk !

Inspired by the tremendous response to its ‘virtual dog walk’ in May, York-based ‘Keep your pet’ (KYP) is now inviting entries for a Catwalk on the same basis.

All cat owners are invited to submit photographs of their cats, with or without their owners, along with a minimum donation of £5 per entry. KYP will create a ‘Catwalk gallery’ on its website www.keepyourpet.co.uk, and photos will also be shown on social media and submitted to the press.

As with the dog walk other activities are on offer:
take part in the ‘owner and cat look-a-like’ competition
enter the ‘crazy cat pose’ competition
submit a witty caption for the caption competition.

Winning entrants will receive a virtual and (in time) a real rosette.

As all the fundraising events involve getting people together, all have had to be cancelled since March. KYP has over 100 volunteers who, during the COVID19 crisis have supported around 60 pet owners, and the service is becoming even more important now that non-essential hospital visits have re-started.

Whilst the service is provided largely by volunteers, KYP cannot function at its current level without ongoing donations and fundraising events, as income is needed for publicity and administration costs. Although a large part of its funds to date have come from Age UK York, the £800 raised by the virtual dog walk was very welcome.

Keith Martin, Chair of KYP, said:
"We would love to see you and your cat at our virtual Catwalk. We also hope you will wish to support Keep Your Pet on a regular basis."
How to enter:

Entries should be sent between 23rd and 31st August 2020 to kypfundraising@gmail.com. One photo of a cat with a suitable caption and/or one photo of owner and cat to enter the lookalike competition. Photos need to be in jpg format.

The details and conditions of the competition rules can be found at http://www.keepyourpet.co.uk

Entries will need to be accompanied by a minimum £5 donation. Donations can be made through www.justgiving.com/fundraising/keepyourpet2020, on the website www.keepyourpet.co.uk, or by cheque payable to Age UK York (marked Keep Your Pet on the back) and sent to Age UK York, 70 Walmgate, YO1 9TL (marked KYP on the envelope). Name and address to be included so that receipt can be acknowledged.

The names of entrants need to be stated in the submission email. Unless otherwise stated it will be assumed that there is approval for the picture to be posted online and published in the media. An address for the postage of rosettes should be included in the event of the entrant achieving one of the top three places.
