2025 football is underway, and this weekend provided one of the most exciting games of the season so far. Leeds United went away to Hull City where they shared the points with The Tigers. Abu Kamara opened the scoring for Hull early in the Yorkshire derby, before Tanaka equalised for Leeds in the 46th minute. Daniel James and Joel Piroe hit the net as well to make it look like Leeds would secure the three points, but Hull scored two late goals through Joao Pedro and Kamara, to make the final scoreline, 3-3.

Middlesborough had a similar outcome from their game against Cardiff City. Latte Lath gave ‘Boro’ the lead in the 12th minute, but the Welsh side quickly levelled the score, to split the points with a 1-1 draw.

Sheffield United beat Watford 2-1 away, to win three important points that keeps them in Championship’s top three. Gustavo Hamer and Andre Brooks scored for The Blades.
Rivals Sheffield Wednesday grabbed a late equaliser against Milwall in a tough game in Yorkshire. With Yan Valery scoring in the 6th minute, Wednesday seemed in control throughout the first half. However, Milwall scored two goals to put them ahead with just a few minutes left to play. As the game was entering its last five minutes, Gabriel Otegbayo managed to make it 2-2, winning Sheffield Wednesday a point.

Barnsley’s fourth win in a row came on Saturday as they beat strugglers Crawley Town at home. An early goal from Russell set The Tykes off to a great start, before strikes by Watters and Keillor-Dunn sealed the game in the second half. The 3-0 result is also Barnsley’s second consecutive home victory, after a hiatus of five matches.

A no-goal clash took place between Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United as they met in a fierce Yorkshire Derby at The John Smith’s Stadium. The Terriers were reduced to ten-men in the 82nd minute, when debutant Ruben Roosken saw red following a tough tackle on Humphreys.

Harrogate Town defeated Barrow 2-0 away, ahead of their FA Cup clash against Leeds next weekend. Jack Muldoon scored in the 56th minute, followed by Josh March in the 61st to seal the win for The Sulphurites.
A great display from Bradford City saw them secure a 3-1 victory over Grimsby Town. Lewis Richards scored late in the first half, before Smallwood converted a penalty just after half-time. Grimsby pulled one back shortly after, but Alexander Pattison secured all three points for the Yorkshire side, scoring in the 69th minute.

Doncaster Rovers were beaten by promotion rivals Port Vale, losing 2-1 at home. Jamie Sterry scored Doncaster’s only goal in the 84th minute, which proved to be no more than a consolation.

Farsley Celtic are having a slow start to the year as they lost their second match in 2025. Rushall Olympic defeated the Yorkshire team 3-1, keeping Farsley in the National League’s bottom four.
