Yorkshire ended the weekend with no competitors left in the FA Cup. Leeds United faced Millwall at home and were defeated 2-0. Femi Azeez grabbed a brace for The Lions. Pascal Strujik had the opportunity to get one back for Leeds but couldn’t beat Milwall’s Roberts from the penalty spot.
In the Championship, Sheffield Wednesday played West Bromwich Albion away and lost in the last moments of the clash. West Brom held a 1-0 lead until the 93rd minute, when Callum Paterson levelled the score and looked to have snatched a point. Unfortunately, The Owls couldn’t hold on to the draw and conceded six minutes into injury time, losing the game 2-1.
Sheffield United were victorious over Portsmouth at Bramall Lane. Gustavo Hamer opened the scoring for United in the 24th minute, but the Yorkshire side were pegged back just three minutes later. Rak-Sakyi came to the rescue in the 73rd minute when he scored the winner and secured a 2-1 victory for The Blades.
In League One, Barnsley were defeated 2-1 away to Stockport County. The hosts scored their two goals in the 31st and 35th minutes, while Barnsley only managed to put the ball in the net in the 90th minute through Keillor-Dunn, which proved to be no more than a consolation.
Rotherham United lost 2-1 at home to Shrewsbury Town. The game’s score was all wrapped up in the span of ten minutes, beginning with Taylor Perry’s goal in the 68th minute. Rotherham scored to make it 1-1 through Odoffin shortly after, but conceded again one minute later when Marquis scored for Shrewsbury.
Huddersfield Town split the points with Reading after a 0-0 draw. The Terriers enjoyed more of the ball and fired 16 shots but were not able to get a winner.
Bradford City welcomed Harrogate Town to West Yorkshire and took all three points from the match. Antoni Sarcevic scored in the 2nd minute of the clash, securing Bradford an important win in their chase for promotion.
Guiseley played away in Merseyside against Prescot Cables, but unfortunately were not able to grab a positive outcome. The hosts won 2-0 with James Foley and Scott Butler scoring in the second half.
