Travelling Around The Yorkshire Dales With Alf
Hannah Russell, Features Writer
The sun is shining in the Yorkshire Dales today and Alfie is outside in his paddock munching the new grass which has just started to shoot through the ground. I can’t believe we’ve had so much sunshine over the last week and it’s only February!

All the horses have started to shed their winter coats, which is a total nightmare for me as I’m actually allergic to horse hair, but it’s so nice to see them happy in the fields.

Paddy my Gypsy cob is really hairy at the moment and very itchy so he’s finding it a bit of a nightmare, but hopefully his summer coat will be through soon and he will be a lot happier and less itchy.

Little Alf’s Meet & Greet
Over the last few weeks Alfieand I have been busy. I’m currently working on the 10th Little Alf book which is to be released later this year. I think it’s going to be the best one yet in the adventure series, but I’ll have to let the readers be the judge of that…

Last week we had a photoshoot in the Yorkshire Dales National Parks which was so lovely. Alfie spent the day travelling around the Dales and stopping for pictures. This was for an exciting project which is being released at the end of the year. I can’t reveal too much yet but the pictures look amazing.

We walked along the moors at one point and Alfie kept eating the heather. Because he is so small he was actually struggling at times to wade his way through and kept stopping to look at me. It was as if he was saying ‘Do we have to walk any further.’

Apart from that he seemed to really enjoy his day and got a bit excited at one point and tried to run off across a field... Luckily he’s only small… saying that he’s very strong.

Next week is a big week for us as it is World Book Day coming up so I’ll be heading around the UK to give talks to schools about life as an author and how Little Alf came to live with me. I love giving talks to students as they usually have lots of questions to ask me about Little Alf.

In the Yorkshire Dales this week is ‘School’ holidays for us so the Little Alf shop is expected to be really busy. Recently we’ve received so much fan mail I’ve considered getting Alfie his own secretary....
