Back in 1997, there were five 'bad boys' whose sole mission was to slam dunk their way into the hearts of pop fans around the world. Formed through a series of auditions held by Heart management, they were signed by Simon Cowell and launched as the naughtier alternative to the clean-living poster pop boys of the era. They were not meant to be singing on stools while stealing your heart or asking you to pray every night for them. No, they were the boys that wanted to know if you were getting down. While they managed to remain at the pinnacle of the pop pile for half a decade, tensions within the band caused them to implode in November 2001, just three albums into their recording career. While there have been various reformations over the years – the highest profile being as a four-piece for The Big Reunion in 2013. However, their ever-loving fanbase were overjoyed when earlier this year, Harmony appeared to hit the Five camp as they announced a full reunion and arena tour. With the shows selling out and the tour being extended, the excitement in Birmingham's Utilita Arena is feverish as one of the world's favourite boybands is set to take the stage.

Before the quintet can explode centre-stage, Mistajam delivers a faultlessly pitched DJ set to warm the audience up. He certainly warms up the audience. Featuring everything from Take That to Daniel Bedingfield to his own releases, Mistajam is a big presence on the stage, and his efforts are met with a joyous response from a very excited audience. As old-school anthems are sung loud across the arena and Mexican waves aplenty are attempted, it is clear that Mistajam knows how to get a party started.
Once the party began, it was unstoppable. As the lights dim after a brief interval, a brief flashback appears on the screen showing how the boys – Richie, J, Scott, Sean and Abz – looked back in the day before the curtain drops and they Slam Dunk (Da Funk) their way into the audience's hearts once again. With the very famous proclamation, 'Five bad boys with the power to rock you,' echoing throughout the arena, hearts were sent into a flutter as a mass singalong was started.
