Wildwood Pizza, Bar And Grill Re-opens In Skipton
If you have never been to one of the Wildwood Pizza, Bar and Grill restaurants, perhaps now is the time to discover them - especially as they are taking part in the governments Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
We were due to be in Skipton on a Wednesday afternoon. I had looked on the website to see if the Skipton Wildwood restaurant was going to be open as we always have eaten excellent pizzas there. No joy it seemed as the restaurant was still closed from Lockdown.
Imagine my surprise when at 5pm we drove past and saw the doors to the restaurant being opened. Within 10 minutes our order was being taken after sitting down outside in the open air dining area at the top end of Skipton High Street. You can sit inside of course but all seating is socially distanced with all the staff wearing face masks at all times.
Although we were the first new customers they had served since March, within the next hour 11 other diners had sat down outside in the 26c heat, to enjoy what I think is one of the best pizzas in Yorkshire. With heat like that it felt more like being in Sienna than Skipton with my Pizza tasting just as good as any I have eaten in the Tuscan city.
The menu is not as big as it is normally, but the pizzas are very good value at £8.95 upwards with pasta dishes also starting at the same price. The Burgers start from £11.85. The dessert menu now has only 3 options with prices starting from £5.95 for a Hot Chocolate Orange Brownie with vanilla ice cream.
Service is quick, friendly and efficient and it was good to see they have held on to the staff who looked pleased to be back at work after such a long lay off.
A one way system is operated within the restaurant and sanitisers are plentiful, if you have any COVID 19 worries.
The name Wildwood might not be familiar, but like me, you might just become a fan after your first visit.
