As Sunday 1 August comes round, the sun will be shining (because of course, in God’s own county, the sun always shines on Yorkshire Day…) and visitors to the National Trust site can watch Morris Dancing and Yorkshire dialect singing.
Giving the English tradition of Morris Dancing a bit of Yorkshire flare are the Leeds Morris Men. Yorkshire singer and farmer John Greaves will be performing well-known folk songs.
Hannah Highsted, visitor experience officer at Nunnington Hall, says:
Leeds Morris Men
“We’re really looking forward to celebrating Yorkshire Day at Nunnington Hall this year. It’s great to be starting up our events programme after a difficult year and we’re proud to be showing off local performers and traditions on Yorkshire Day. So come along and sit back and relax in the deckchairs and be entertained, or have a go at some garden games.”
The house, exhibitions and gardens will also be open, and the café is open for drinks and snacks. Nunnington’s garden team will also host rose tours throughout the day too.
