Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity Launches New Leeds Bereavement Walking Group

Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity has launched a new walking group, “Ramble On (North Leeds)”, to help those who have lost loved ones to brain cancer meet others in a similar situation.

The first session will be a gentle stroll around Roundhay Park on Monday 14th June, meeting at the Lakeside Café car park at 11am. Walkers don’t need any experience or equipment, and there’s no pressure to chat for those who don’t feel like it. There will be support along the way from trained YBTC volunteer Hilary Humpleby.

The group is an opportunity for those who have been bereaved to recharge in nature, as well as gaining connection and companionship with people who understand their situation. The charity asks that walkers don’t bring pets along as this could deter people who aren’t comfortable with them – the aim is for the group to be accessible for absolutely everyone.

The group provides a welcome addition to the more formal forms of bereavement support the charity offers, including support groups, counselling, hypnotherapy and a dedicated phoneline.

Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity plans to expand the walking group with additional “Ramble On” branches in York, Bradford, Huddersfield, and other areas of Leeds in the near future.

Those who would like to join the group can call YBTC Support Coordinator Paula Dalton on 07838 023279.
