The Border Reivers: A talk by Steve Wilton at Skipton Library
For almost 400 years those living on the border between England and Scotland have been both pawns in wars between the two kingdoms and a thorn in the flesh of the forces of law and order. Known as the ‘Border Reivers’ (or Border Thieves) they contributed to the impoverishment of the region and maintained a culture where violence and dishonesty were the norm.
