Busted - 02 Academy Leeds

What happened to all those young fans, many yet to reach their teens whose parents used to take them to see Busted at their arena shows 10 years ago?

The answer is that they are now in their mid 20's and want to see the band, who they loved when they were in junior school.

A big majority of these fans are here tonight. Many perhaps did not even get to see the band first time around.

There are 2 versions of Busted on show tonight, the old version who perform tracks such as Air Hostess and the new more mature Busted with songs such as On What You're On, the latter sounding more like Daft Punk than Busted.

The band returned with their first album in 10 years last autumn with Midnight Driver, the title track of which they perform tonight.

Backed with a drummer and a saxophone player the 3 piece look happy to be back. The new tracks seem to go down well too.

With new tracks such as I Will Break Your Heart and Slipping Through My Fingers it looks like the band can write tracks that sound good on the radio and in a live context too.

Predictably it was the older songs such as Crashed the Wedding and Year 3000 that got the biggest response from the mainly female audience.

It felt like we were all back in 2002 and watching the band perform on CD:UK.

The encore with What I Go To School For, after which they promise to come back to Leeds as the band inform us that they are going to record a new album.

Those Days Are Gone is the final track but tonight those days when we were all younger were back.

Just as good second time around!
