Funding To Create New Woodlands
Oak sapling
Landowners interested in creating new native broadleaved woodlands in and around the Yorkshire Dales could be eligible for grants to fully cover the costs of saplings, stakes, guards, fencing, gates, labour and first year weeding.

Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) is managing funds provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and The Fuelcard Company to create new woodlands that provide biodiversity benefits, alleviate flood risks, enhance the landscape and benefit the local economy.

Potential schemes in the Ingleborough area are of particular interest as part of Stories in Stone, a four-year programme of community and heritage projects developed by the Ingleborough Dales Landscape Partnership, which is led by YDMT and mainly funded by National Lottery players through the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Winterscales woodland
To find out more about this opportunity and discuss potential sites around Ingleborough and any other areas, interested parties are invited to attend a free event near Chapel le Dale on Thursday 22 June. The event starts at 7pm and will finish by 9pm, with a free buffet and refreshments available. There will also be a chance to look at new woodlands planted in 2011 and 2016. Booking for this event is required by 3pm on Monday 19 June.

To apply for a woodland grant an expression of interest for potential planting next season (winter 2017/18) must be received by 7 July.

To book a place at the event, or to find out more about applying for a woodland grant to create new woodlands in the Yorkshire Dales and further afield, please contact Carol Douglas, YDMT Woodland Officer, on 015242 51002 or email carol.douglas@ydmt.org
