Ibis Styles Hotel, Leeds

With the new Marco's restaurant in the same complex the aim, I understand is to become the number one preferred combined hotel and restaurant in Leeds.

The new Ibis Styles is no ordinary chain hotel. In fact the impression I got during my stay was that this felt like a stand alone hotel. They have given the hotel a very strong Yorkshire influence.

A walk of light bulbs sits alongside the hotel reception with the words "EE by gum" and "Ibis Styles Leeds".

The greeting upon check in was friendly and welcoming. Also a nice touch is free coffee and tea in reception available 24 hours alongside fresh cool water with lemon.

Access to your room via the lift has been thought about with security in mind as the lift only works with your hotel room key card.

The whole place smells new and it felt more like a boutique hotel but without the boutique prices.

Rooms are of a generous size: the headboards behind the bed have drawings of the Leeds skyline - you do not have to look out of the window to know you are in Leeds.

The free tea (Yorkshire tea, naturally) and coffee makes an appearance again in your room.

The bed was comfy, there is enough hanging ground space for a few days stay and TV had all the usual channels.

In your room there is also a writing desk - with paper notes attached to bulk dog clips, handy if you want to make a quick list. The free Wi Fi was fast and an added bonus.

The bathroom was of adequate size. Although the shower was not a rain shower it was still fine for me.

The Do Not Disturb sign has been adapted to the Yorkshire theme as it also says "Put T'wood in T'oil"

Breakfast at the moment is continental style taken in Marco's restaurant downstairs, though there are plans to add a hot breakfast.

The hotel will be popular too with guests attending Leeds Arena as the hotel is a 2 minute walk away.

Check out was fast. The whole hotel feels stylish and it deserves to be a huge success and I am sure it will be.
