Introducing Live At York Museum Gardens

From the 18th-21st July 2024, the Museum Gardens in the centre of York will play host to Live in Museum Gardens - with York residents having a 48-hour presale window to secure tickets.

The inaugural dates will see local heroes Shed Seven headline two nights, Friday 19th and Saturday 20th July, with support on both dates from Pete Doherty.

Plus, Lottery Winners and Serotones on Friday, and Brook Coombe and Apollo Junction on Saturday. Further dates will be announced at a later point.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on the Friday 3rd November.

Museum Gardens are botanic gardens in the middle of York, beside the river Ouse. They were created in the 1830s by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society along with the Yorkshire Museum, which still sits within them. Today, the gardens are popular with both residents and visitors as a spot to explore.

Formed in York in the early 90s, Shed Seven rose to fame at the height of Britpop and has amassed 15 Top 40 singles, including live favourites such as Chasing Rainbows, Going for Gold, Disco Down and On Standby, as well as four Top 10 albums. They will release their new album, A Matter of Time on the 12th January 2024.

They remain one of the UK's best live acts, constantly packing out venues across the country.

The mastermind behind the event, Rachel Hill, Project Manager at Yorkshire’s largest independent live music brand, Futuresound which is behind the series, said:
“I have been heavily involved in the York music scene for 20 years and it has always been an ambition of mine to bring a live music event of this scale to the middle of the city with residents at the heart of it. The fact that we can start the event with the biggest band to come out of York makes it all the more special.”

On future plans for Live in Museum Gardens, Rachel said:
“These shows are just the start. We are already looking ahead to which international artists we can bring to Museum Gardens in 2025 to create more fantastic memory-filled nights for live music fans.”

For Live in Museum Gardens, Futuresound is working with regional suppliers to provide everything from event infrastructure to food outlets.
