Kings Of Leon - Leeds Arena

The anticipation that greeted the Kings of Leon at the Leeds Arena was justified as the band delivered a storming set that covered all parts of their career.

Apart from blue and pink confetti that covered the audience at the end of the gig during Around the World there were no gimmicks to distract from the music.

Starting off with The End, the band were bathed in red light. It appeared to be a small stage draped with red curtains as the band led by Caleb Followill ran through tracks Four Kicks, Molly's Chambers and Eyes on You.

Surprisingly the track everyone associates with the group, Sex on Fire is delivered mid set. The band treat the song as if it is just one of their regular numbers, but the fans are certainly on fire by now.

A three song acoustic set follows with The Runner, Comeback Story and the title track of the last album Walls, all sound fine stripped down.

The draped curtains lift back at this point to reveal a bigger stage with two additional musicians behind them and also with Nathan Followill's drum kit being moved further back.

A lot of bands seem to be using this trick of having the curtain lift up to reveal further musicians as The Human League and The Pet Shop Boys have recently done. It is a simple idea but works very well.

Use Somebody has the fans singing back every word to the band, but as is customary with the band there is no encore. But after over 25 songs performed it had been a slick performance.

As the confetti covers the fans during Around the World the 2 hours the band had been on stage seemed to pass far too quickly.
