One Year Countdown To The UCI World Road Championships
The Queensbury Queens with world champ Lizzie Diegnan (Armistead)
To mark the year countdown of this global cycling event coming to Bradford, the Queensbury Queens are holding an event for the people of the district.

Invitations have been sent to all Bradford clubs, but this invite is extended to everyone and anyone - Communications Officer, Elise Fitzgerald says “it’s about the people of Bradford coming together for a community event.

"Look what we did for the tour de Yorkshire. We’d love to give this spectator support to the UCI World Road Championships too.”

The Queensbury Queens will be running a fun festival feel event alongside the women’s road race on Saturday 29th September 2018.

This year the host town is Innsbruck, next year Bradford. The event this year is being held at Bradford capital of Cycling from 2:30pm to 5pm.

Zoe Towers, Chair of Queensbury Queens Cycling Club says, “We are really excited as a local cycling club that the UCI World Championships 2019 are going to be held, not only in Yorkshire, but that our city, Bradford, is a host town.

"We can’t wait for the pro’s to be racing on the same roads that our club cycles out on each week. We want to make the most of this occasion by making the celebrations last the whole year.

"This starts with our launch event at Bradford’s capital of cycling on 29th September. Our aim is to encourage everyone to get involved with lots of fun, such as Scalextric bike racing, design a jersey competition and much more.

"This will tie in with the live screening of the elite ladies Road race. We are hoping that by hosting a family event like this it will encourage lots more women to find out more about the UCI World Championships, therefore building the interest and knowledge for next years event when it’s in our city.”
