Pizza And Prosecco Festival, Leeds

General view
General view
If you think what is popular at the moment then Prosecco would definitely come to mind; festivals seem to be back in fashion and everyone likes pizza - team them together and you have got the first Pizza and Prosecco Festival in Leeds.

Basically it is another spin on the old Oktoberfest theme, only the beer has been replaced by Prosecco and Bratwurst with pizza. Even the seating at the event was long tables and benches like being in a bierkeller.

It has been very popular, the Friday night sold out with only a few tickets remaining for Saturday night, which surprised me as Canal Mills off Armley Road in Leeds is not exactly in the centre of the city.

The pop up event has already visited Cardiff, Bristol and Liverpool. An entrance fee of £15 had to be paid to get in.

For that you got a Prosecco cocktail on arrival, a Pizza and Prosecco Festival Guide (which was basically a list of all the different types of Prosecco you could buy, along with a floor plan and a list of the pizza traders you can buy your pizza from).

The music flowed as abundantly as the Prosecco courtesy of some live acts whose repertoire ranged from A Ha to The Monkees, along with DJ's.

It was loud, rowdy and busy - if you like your night out to be lively and be prepared to stand and not sit then it is ideal.

It would be great to go there with your mates, but if you were after taking your partner there then you might be better off in a more intimate cosier place.

The pizzas we had from the Rustic Pizza Company were ok, perhaps a little too soggy from the ones I have eaten when in Italy, but when the Prosecco is flowing and everyone is having a good time then perhaps it doesn't matter too much.

It is a great idea and I can see why the festival is popular.
