Review: Harvesters, Halifax
General view of restaurant
Harvesters is a chain that has a restaurant in the Broad Street Plaza in Halifax. Competition is fierce as there are several other restaurants located at either side of Halifax Harvesters.
The restaurant is light and airy with the service being friendly and very good.
Cheesy Garlic Bread
The menu consists of chicken, beef and burger dishes, all of which come with fresh unlimited salad which you help yourself to.
Whilst the food we sampled on the main menu was excellent, the general opinion seemed to be that although the salad was fresh, it all seemed to taste a bit bland.
Cheese & Bacon Burger with Fries
A shared starter of Cheesy Garlic Bread served with crispy sliced cauliflower balls was a meal in itself, hot, 'moreish' and tasteful, being well presented and cooked just right.
8oz Sirloin Steak
My main of 8oz Sirlion steak served with peppercorn sauce and fries was cooked to my liking and didn't contain any fat on the side, which was a pleasant surprise.
Eton Mess Cheesecake
My sister's Cheese and Bacon Burger served with fries was described as "better than what you get at some of the cheaper burger chains".
The dessert of Eton Mess Cheesecake again was well presented but unfortunately lacked a strong taste with the pastry appearing to be a bit soggy.
On our early evening visit the restaurant was reasonably busy and seemed popular with both couples and families.
The restaurant have a very good drinks list which all appeared to be reasonably priced just like the food.
