The Singer Songwriter Compilation (Universal)

Whoever came up with the theme of this new compilation certainly had a good idea.

Celebrating 60 modern tracks of the singer songwriter this 3 CD compilation contains songs that will probably be remembered in 20 years time. In fact I should imagine that many of these melodic tracks will be covered by other artists over the coming years.

When most tracks nowadays are composed by up to 6 writers at a time, these tracks tend to be written by the artist alone or with another co-writer.

Starting off with two stand out tracks You Give Me Something by James Morrison and Hold Back The River by James Bay are both songs that appeal to a wide age group.

The talent of Amy Winehouse is represented here with Back To Black and Love Is A Loosing Game whilst Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds kick off CD2 with AKA... What A Life! Things go back a little further with Fields of Gold from Sting and Ironic with Alanis Morrisette.

I wonder whatever happened to Duffy? The Welsh singer was tipped to follow in the footsteps of Adele but at least you can remember Duffy here with the track Warwick Avenue.

From the jazzy These Are The Days by Jamie Cullum to the country pop of Let Me Go from Gary Barlow all styles of music are covered on this unique compilation.

I rate the album 4 out of 5
