V Festival, Weston Park - Day Two

General view of the V Festival on Day Two
General view of the V Festival on Day Two
The refreshing thing about the V Festival is that on the many stages you can always stumble along a surprise act.

Naations appeared on the V Street Stage and in the short set they impressed greatly.

Their debut single Alive sits firmly along the classic dance tracks Pete Tong had been performing with the Heritage Orchestra the night before. With tracks like Look Away they seem like an act to watch out for.

James Arthur has experienced the ups and lows in his life since winning the X Factor.

"Never give up on your dreams. I never thought 5 years ago I would be here doing this" he informs the large audience as he delivers his debut hit, Impossible.

He feels what he is singing because he has been there and sings from the soul.

Madness are always guaranteed to put on a cracking show.

The majority of the crowd watching were not even born when the nutty boys originally graced the charts, but their music is timeless and it was not surprising to hear that everyone knew the words from the hits.

Lead singer Suggs even does a small tribute to Bruce Forsyth.

When you can round off your set with Baggy Trousers, Our House and It Must Be Love, it makes even the rain hold off.

George Ezra had the misfortune to arrive on stage at the same time as the rain, but he holds your attention with his melodic tracks that you forget the damp conditions.

He dedicates a new track, Pretty Shining People to the people of Barcelona following the recent tragedy in the city.

His forthcoming new album has been recorded in the Catalan city. He mixes new tracks in with the old, but other new tracks such as Hold My Girl sound just as good as the older songs like Listen to the Man and of course, Budapest. It looks like he is definitely a long term prospect.

Callum Beattie
Callum Beattie
Callum Beattie on the V Street Stage drew a sizeable audience. He just now needs to be known more widely. He has good songs such as We Are Stars.

Jess Glynne

Jess Glynne seemed to use the same special effects (bubbles) as Ellie Goulding the night before.

She has learnt to dance albeit with her band, that in a way reminded me of Bruno Mars and his band.

"You might know this one" she says as she introduces Hold My Hand, which you will probably recognise too if you have flown with a certain Yorkshire based airline. This song plays when you get on and off the plane as well as their TV adverts.

Sigma
Sigma
Sigma, the two DJ's now have a full live band with them.

It works too though it did remind me of the same concept that Rudimental have. With various singers they made it feel as hot as a night in Ibiza rather than a damp wet night outside in Staffordshire!

Mind you when you have tracks as good as Coming Home, Changing and Nobody To Love it was always going to be a party.

Craig David seems to be having a second coming and is now able to appear before tonight's headliner on the main stage. Not Giving Up on You was a fine track to return with before he drops all the old favourites.

Pink last appeared at the V Festival 10 years ago.

She certainly knows how to make an entrance as she is dropped to the stage by a crane!

She occasionally forgets the words to some of her older hits but has the confidence to carry it off.

A fine end to a superb weekend of good music.
