12 Ways To Beat The Festive Parcel Pantomime
Tech-enabled, carbon-neutral courier Packfleet has compiled its 12 tips to make sure Christmas doesn’t arrive late for gift givers and receivers this year.
They include tips on packaging, parcel delivery and insider advice on how to get those all important packages delivered where you want, when you want and in one piece this Christmas.
Each year thousands of precious gifts get lost or damaged by parcel firms. In contrast, the company boasts a 10x lower failure rate than leading competitors and 99.95% on-time delivery.
They will be delivering to an area inhabited by 10 million people this Christmas, but doesn't want the rest of the country to be disappointed during the festive period – when delivery firms are at their busiest.
Tristan Thomas, CEO and co-founder of Packfleet, said:
“Every year there is always a mad rush for couriers in the run up to Christmas with many failing to prepare for the festive period. It often results in delivery horror stories, with parcels going missing or arriving broken.
“Even on the busiest of days, packages should be handled carefully and definitely not thrown over fences by drivers or left out in the rain.
“We believe that the customer’s experience, from ordering a product to it arriving at their door, should be seamless – even when courier firms are rushed off their feet.
“We don’t want anyone to be disappointed this Christmas so we’ve pulled together our tips to ensure your parcel arrives in time – just make sure there is a spot left under the Christmas tree!”
Packfleet’s 12 tips for avoiding empty stockings and sad faces on Christmas morning.
Recipient name, flat number, post code – make sure all the delivery details are there to leave no room for disappointment this year!
The same goes for your contact details – like Santa’s list, check them twice.
If it's an important delivery, pay for the premium option.
List a safe place for parcels to be left (ideally not down the chimney – that’s reserved).
Ask if a neighbour will accept your parcel. It’s the season of goodwill after all.
Try and group your deliveries into one time window – it’s easier all-round.
If you can, use the divert to a safe place option – you don’t want parcels home alone.
Know your delivery date cut-offs. No one wants an empty stocking!
Keep proof of postage and tracking numbers handy. You never know when you'll need to track down your gift in the North Pole sorting centre! If you are sending parcels use robust packaging – wrapping should only come off on the 25th December.
Know the best before dates when sending food or perishables – too long under the tree and they may, well, perish!
Be nice to your delivery driver – it’s Christmas for them, too. No sherry, but a mince pie will almost always go down well!
Check which delivery company the retailer uses especially if you have concerns about a particular delivery company and would rather not use them.
