Businesses In Ripon, Pateley Bridge & Harrogate Get Ready For UCI Roadshows

Harrogate Borough Council’s UCI Road World Championships roadshow is completing its tour of the district with three remaining events being held in May and June.

The Harrogate Welcomes the World roadshow has been stopping off at venues across the district to enable businesses to prepare for one of the world’s biggest sporting events coming to Yorkshire.

The free-to-attend roadshows highlight how businesses can make the most of the nine-day cycling championships being held from 21-29 September.

The remaining events are on:

Tuesday 21 May, 4:30pm, Ripon Community House

Wednesday 29 May, 6pm, Pateley Bridge Methodist Church

Wednesday 5 June, 5pm, Lower Hall, Wesley Centre, Harrogate.

Attendees will hear details about the races and routes from local organising committee Yorkshire 2019 alongside advice on spectator facilities and travel.

Thousands of visitors from across the world are expected in the district over the nine days of racing. There will be an estimated global television audience of 250 million and more than three million roadside spectators.

Cllr Graham Swift, Cabinet Member Resources, Enterprise and Economic Development at Harrogate Borough Council, said: “Our roadshows provide businesses and organisations with localised information about this major, international sporting spectacle, as well as ideas and tips to support them to make the most of this exciting event. We’ve been delighted by the positive response from those who have attended our earlier roadshows, with many inspiring examples of how businesses and communities can benefit from the cycling championships being hosted in the Harrogate district.”
