Catch The Last Train To Terror This Halloween
The last train on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway this Halloween is strictly for grown-ups as the heritage line transforms into a journey of live scares, sinister characters and after-dark surprises.
The Scare Train, on Saturday 31st October, is an adults-only Halloween experience which takes passengers through the Worth Valley after darkness falls, with live performers turning trains, stations and the railway itself into part of the action.
Unlike the railway’s daytime family Halloween Adventure, this one is firmly aimed at thrill seekers aged 18 and over.
Passengers climb aboard at Oxenhope before heading out into the darkness, where live actors and characters appear throughout the journey.
Carriages, stations and even the shadows alongside the line become part of an immersive experience designed to keep passengers guessing where the next scare is coming from.
And getting back to Oxenhope does not mean the night is over.
Those who survive the journey head into the railway’s Exhibition Shed for a Halloween After Party, with a live covers band taking over for the rest of the evening.
Noel Hartley, Business and Operations Manager at Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, said: “There is something inherently atmospheric about travelling on a steam railway after dark and The Scare Train makes full use of it.
“You’re travelling through the Worth Valley in darkness, never quite knowing what is waiting at the next station, inside the next carriage or somewhere outside the window.
“This is very different from our family Halloween event. The actors can turn up almost anywhere and the whole railway becomes part of the experience.
“Then, assuming everyone makes it back to Oxenhope, we swap the screams for live music and a Halloween party in the Exhibition Shed. It’s definitely not one for the faint-hearted,” he added.
The Scare Train takes place on Saturday 31st October, with departing trains at 17:25 and 18:50 only. This event is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Tickets cost £35 per person and include a Day Rover ticket.
