Following the official designation of the iconic Coast to Coast Path as England’s newest national trail this March, outdoor enthusiasts now have even more reason to explore one of the country’s most breathtaking long-distance routes.
Stretching 190 miles from St Bees on the Irish Sea to the dramatic cliffs of Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Sea, the trail passes through three of England’s most celebrated national parks — the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the North York Moors — offering an unforgettable journey through diverse and spectacular landscapes.
At the journey’s eastern end, Hotel Victoria sits proudly above the charming fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay, offering panoramic coastal views and a welcoming retreat for walkers, cyclists, and outdoor lovers, including organised group walking or cycling trips.
Perfectly placed to celebrate the completion of the Coast to Coast adventure, the hotel also serves as an ideal base for exploring a network of renowned routes, including the Cleveland Way, the Cinder Track and the King Charles III England Coast Path, with the Moor to Sea Cycle Network and the North York Moors Cycleway passing through Robin Hood’s Bay – all easily accessible from the doorstep.
The landmark hotel has developed its facilities to cater for the growing demand from travellers seeking active, outdoor experiences, with drying facilities for boots and waterproofs, secure storage for bikes and the option to order packed lunches or picnics. The hotel also works in collaboration with local provider, Cinder Bike Hire, who will deliver cycles, including e-bikes and child trailers, direct to the hotel.
For those keen to holiday with pets, Hotel Victoria offers dog-friendly rooms within the Captain’s Quarters and provides beds, blankets, and water bowls, ensuring four-legged companions feel just as welcome. Head chef Ryan Osborne has curated a doggy dining menu featuring dishes such as Cumberland sausage and mash, chicken with rice and vegetables, and even dog-friendly ice cream. Dogs are welcome in the Loxley Pub, where breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals are served.
Andrew Long, owner of the Hotel Victoria, said: "The Coast to Coast Path becoming a National Trail is a fantastic milestone for the region.' We’re delighted to welcome walkers, cyclists, and their dogs to the final stop on this incredible journey, offering them a place to relax, refuel, and take in the beauty of the North Yorkshire coastline.
With interest in active and outdoor travel continuing to grow, Hotel Victoria combines location, comfort, and thoughtful amenities to create a memorable coastal escape at one of England’s most iconic walking destinations.”
