Chicken Girl

In this year’s round of short film festivals, a new talent is beginning to make her mark with a ten minute comedy, Chicken Girl, which is entertaining audiences in the North of England and abroad. Written, directed and starring Em Humble, the film is a tragicomedy about a young woman’s obsession with chickens and golden eggs. With the assistance of her ‘better half’, Gary (Tristan Robinson), the film follows a college documentary about this misguided couple’s search for an elusive golden prize.

Inspired by Grey Gardens and What We Do in the Shadows, funded by the BFI Film Academy and Film Hub North, and produced by HOME Manchester and Pili Mili Films, Chicken Girl premièred in April 2023 at HOME Theatre Manchester. On its journey it has won best comedy short film at the Sunderland 2023 Film Festival and will be featuring in the Dublin International Comedy Film Festival in December.

Before this current success, Em Humble was a member and president of the 5-star-reviewed sketch comedy group, The Leeds Tealights. They wrote and performed nine original shows to audiences across the UK and at month-long runs of the Edinburgh Fringe, hosting the infamous Sketch-Off, performing alongside the Cambridge Footlights, Oxford Revue, Durham Revue, St. Andrew’s Revue, and Bristol Revunions.

Em’s original sketches have featured on BBC Radio Manchester, Cumbria, Tees, Hat Trick productions, Pulped with Bits and her viral Every Northern Character in a Musical has been viewed over four million times.

Em Humble is represented by Individual Artist Management.
