Em Humble, BAFTA longlisted voice actor from Thank Goodness You’re Here (Coal Supper’s winner of Best British Game in the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards), is releasing her award-winning mockumentary short film Chicken Girl on Youtube (Friday April 18th 2025).

The ten-minute tragicomedy follows a delusional young woman’s obsession with chickens and golden eggs. Filmed in the Cumbrian countryside with a dedicated local cast and north-west crew, Chicken Girl explores a couple’s journey to gold and what it means to love your chickens to death.

Funded by the British Film Institute, supported by Film Hub North, produced by HOME Manchester and Pili Mili Films, Chicken Girl is Em Humble’s writer-director-performer debut and has been screened at film festivals in the UK and across the globe over the last two years.

On its travels, the comedy short has been awarded numerous prizes including Best British Short at Women X Film Festival, Best Comedy at Sunderland Short Film Festival and Best North West Short at Kinofilm 19 Manchester.

Popular with audiences (described by Screen Queens as ‘utterly insane … genuinely saddening … compelling comedy gold’), Chicken Girl has been admired at festivals and screenings in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Sunderland, Darlington, Chester, Halifax, London, Dublin, Toronto and Queensland.
