Children's Author Holds Special Book Reading at Sherburn

A teaching assistant turned author from Kirk Fenton CE Primary School hosted a special reading of her new book, Bob, The Tiny Dinosaur, at an event held at Sherburn & Villages Community Library last Saturday.

Amanda Peace, who lives in the local area, created the book, which centres around Bob who lives in a land where the rest of the dinosaurs are giant beasts, and who sets out to help his friend and prove to those that doubted him that you can be both tiny and brave.

The colourful picture book, which was inspired by her own children’s love of dinosaurs and adventure, and was published with encouragement from the students and staff at Kirk Fenton, has proved hugely successful since its launch earlier this year, and is now available on major retail sites including Waterstones and Amazon.

When asked where the idea for her book came from Amanda, a former commercial property lawyer, said:
“I originally created the character ‘Bob, The Tiny Dinosaur’ for my children, but over time the character evolved through the stories I created.

“Eventually, with the encouragement of my family and colleagues at Kirk Fenton CE Primary School I decided to finish writing the children’s book.

“I have done a few readings at the venues where the book is on sale, but this was a particularly special event as I got to celebrate and share my work with my school and local community.”

Karen Williams, Headteacher at Kirk Fenton CE Primary commented:
“We are incredibly proud of Amanda and very privileged to have such a successful author working with us here at Kirk Fenton.

“The book is full of inspirational messages about overcoming adversity and being there to support your friends, and it’s great to be able to present the book to our children and for them to see first-hand where their imagination can take them.”
