Citroen's 2CV Concept Wows Paris
I've just returned from the Paris Motor Show and one car drew the largest crowd on the dedicated press day.
Citroën is reviving an icon by unveiling the 2CV Concept, a modern response to the mobility challenges of tomorrow.
They say it is inspired by the spirit of the original, and that this concept represents the core values that have always defined the 2CV – affordability, lightness, practicality, versatility and a distinctive character unrivalled on the road.
With a compact length of 3.76 metres, this concept embodies freedom of movement, ease of use and affordable electric mobility. Its design aims to incorporate all the hallmarks and charm of the original 2CV, reinterpreted in a contemporary version that pays numerous tributes to its predecessor. They have probably succeeded.
The colourful interior is quite spacious and minimalistic and was comfortable on my brief acquaintance.
The 2CV Concept demonstrates the vision for a model that the brand will unveil within the next two years; manufactured in Europe, it aims for a starting price of around €15,000 and will comply with future E-Car regulations. I can sense a queue forming already. I might well join the line.
