Drivers Advised To Plan Journeys Around A628 Weekend Closure In South Yorkshire

Drivers traveling on the A628 this weekend are being advised that the route will be closed for essential maintenance work near to Longside Moss.

The A628 is fully closed from 8pm on Friday 3 July until 6am on Monday 6 July between Flouch roundabout and the Gun Inn. This is to install three new drainage pipes across the carriageway at a depth of around 7ft to improve safety.

The work, which is weather permitting, is part of Highways England’s £5 million investment to provide road users with safer and more dependable journeys on the 13.5-mile Trans-Pennine route.

Diversions will be in place following the M1, M62 and M60 for traffic travelling towards Manchester and via the A57 for traffic travelling towards Sheffield.

All Highways England sites have strict safeguarding measures, in line with Public Health England guidance, to prevent the spread of COVID19 and none of the sites are open to the public.
