Album Review: Five Finger Death Punch - AfterLife

Five Finger Death Punch AfterLife

Welcome To The Circus; AfterLife; Times Like These; Roll Dem Bones; Pick Up Behind You; Judgment Day; IOU; Thanks For Asking; Blood And Tar; All I Know; Gold Gutter; The End

Better Noise Records BNM1232

AfteLlife is the highly anticipated follow-up release to their 2020 album, F8 which debuted at #1 on rock charts around the world and Top 10 on the mainstream charts in the USA, Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and here in the UK.

The band return with this accomplished album showing the heavy metal genre at its very best. There are enough rock tracks here that have strong melodies you might not associate with acts such as Five Finger Death Punch.

The album starts off in style with Welcome To The Circus - the guitar riffs hit you like a juggernaut travelling at full speed as the song develops into a track that will, i suspect, become a fan favourite when the band tour. It has a touch of Alice Cooper meets Rob Zombie in the song.

The album title track, AfterLife is built around a strong chorus with a song that would suit Ozzy Osbourne.

Times Like These comes as a complete contrast on a radio friendly track that would sound even better driving along a Californian highway with the sun beaming down. The song is one which might gain the band a wider audience.

Thanks For Asking has a modern rock sound that is accompanied with orchestrated strings. Think of bands such as Evanescence and you get an idea of the sound here.

The album concludes with The End which provides a nice crescendo with an orchestral touch adding a different prospective to their sound.

A well rounded album that will please the faithful and a good introduction to Five Finger Death Punch for anyone new to the group.
