Yorkshire-based food producer Cranswick plc has reported a strong start to its financial year, with first-quarter revenues rising 5.5 per cent year-on-year, driven by robust consumer demand for fresh meat and poultry.

In a trading update covering the 13 weeks to 27 June 2026, the FTSE 250 business reported overall volume growth of 8.2 per cent. Like-for-like revenue increased by 4.0 per cent, with volumes up 6.4 per cent as the company passed lower input prices on to retail customers.

Growth was delivered across all key categories, led by a strong performance in poultry following recent capacity expansion at its flagship processing facility in Eye, Suffolk, alongside new customer onboarding across its cooked and prepared poultry sites. Domestic fresh pork revenues also moved ahead of the previous year, supported by double-digit volume growth in UK supermarkets.

Founded in Hull in the 1970s by a collective of Yorkshire pig farmers, Cranswick has expanded into one of the UK’s primary suppliers of pork, poultry, and gourmet convenience foods, supplying major supermarket chains across Britain and exporting pork products to international markets, including North America and East Asia.

We have made a positive start to the year, delivering volume-led revenue growth across the business. We continue to support our strategic partners by providing excellent service levels, alongside unrivalled product quality and innovation.

Our poultry business is growing strongly and the significant investment we are making in our Eye facility will create the headroom for further expansion in this exciting category.

Our continued compounding growth reflects the increasing competitive advantage of our vertically integrated supply chain and record capital deployment across our asset base to increase capacity, add capability, drive efficiencies and deliver strong returns.
Adam Couch, Chief Executive Officer of Cranswick

The company maintained a positive outlook for the remainder of the financial year, citing ongoing capital investment across its manufacturing base to support long-term capacity and operational efficiencies.
