Interactive Map For You To Discover Beautiful Art Depicting Your Favourite Welsh Locations
Driftwood Designs is launching its first interactive map enabling the discovery of beautiful art and homewares depicting a host of stunning Welsh locations.
Visit the Driftwood Designs website, click on the map and see what is available from your favourite locations; from fine art prints and tea towels to lampshades and notebooks, the beauty of Wales is captured in a range of practical items.
Whether you are born and bred in Wales or an occasional visitor, you’d be hard pressed to deny the beauty of the country, whose varied landscapes provide inspiration for Welsh artist Lizzie Spikes.
As co-founder of Driftwood Designs, Lizzie’s artwork is incorporated into all sorts of household objects, such as tea towels, chopping boards, cushion covers and lampshades, with the intention that her art can be bought affordably and enjoyed every day.
The vast majority of her designs are also available as fine art prints, which look stunning on any wall and are perfect as gifts or an affordable treat for yourself. As Lizzie is so prolific and enthusiastic when it comes to depictions of Welsh scenes, Driftwood realised that a lot of the stunning artwork from the huge back catalogue was not being seen.
So, Lizzie’s business partner Becky and colleague Sian have been working hard to put together an interactive map for the website, which is now available to browse. It has map pins for many, many painting of the places that Lizzie has painted over the years, across the length and breadth of Wales.
How it works
Just go to the map and scroll in on your favourite area. Then you can simply click on a pin to reveal the artwork for that location. You can order directly from there, selecting the size and whether you want it framed, or you can click through to see it in larger form and find out more information. Or, if it’s not quite right for you, simply close it down and look again!
Stunning selection
With so many works of art to choose from, it may be a job to know where to start. The capital Cardiff is a good place and Lizzie’s stylish depiction of all the famous elements of the city is bound to please anyone who loves this diverse and friendly place.
Of course, the hills and mountains of Wales are hugely famous and equally beautiful. Head north from Cardiff on the map and you will find a stunning depiction of Sugar Loaf Mountain, covered in snow, with a moody sky behind and green fields in the forefront. Or you can head over to the Brecon Beacons and see Fen Y Fan from above with a glorious sunrise in the background.
If, for you, Wales is all about the stunning coastline and charming seaside towns, you are spoilt for choice, with pins from Abertawe in the south, going round the west coast encompassing Abergwaun, Eglwys Y Grog, Aberystwyth and Ynyslas; and right up to stunning Conwyn Castle in North Wales.
Alternatively, if you love Wales for the landmarks, check out the beautiful illustrations of Craig Goch, Talley Abbey and Pontcysyllte aqueduct, to name a few.

All of the paintings featured are available to order as signed fine art prints which are made at The National Library in Aberystwyth.
“Wales is such a beautiful country. I am inspired by it every day, and I hope the interactive map will help people choose items from their favourite places or perhaps discover new areas of Cymru that they haven’t yet experienced. It’s been such fun proving rediscovering areas I have painted in the past. I hope others enjoy it as much as we have.” Said artist Lizzie Spikes.
