Isuzu Unveils Its New D-Max Electric Pickup

Isuzu UK has shown The New Isuzu D-Max Electric Vehicle (EV) in right-hand drive at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026. Announced in 2025 and previously shown in a European format, the new D-Max EV is the first fully electric pick-up in the UK to provide over 1-tonne payload, 3.5-tonne towing capacity and permanent four-wheel drive.

The D-Max EV is powered by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery and dual motors located on the front and rear axles, producing a total output of 149.3 kW (45.9 kW front, 103.4 kW rear). The new electric vehicle delivers 347.6 Nm of torque (115 Nm front, 232.6 Nm rear), for powerful, refined performance, accelerating from 0-62 mph in 10.1 seconds with a top speed of over 80 mph.

Full-time four-wheel drive delivers four selectable regenerative charging levels, while an optional Eco drive mode extends the range of the D-Max EV. The New Isuzu D-Max EV charges from an AC supply (maximum 11 kW) within six hours, and from a DC supply (maximum 50 kW) up to 80% within one hour.

The New Isuzu D-Max EV provides UK professional and fleet customers with a powerful and rugged work vehicle combined with comfort, practicality and zero emissions. Based on the latest generation Isuzu D-Max strengthened ladder chassis to withstand heavy payloads, a new De-Dion semi-independent suspension system improves handling and ensures a more refined ride, contributing to a reduction in cabin noise and vibration under full acceleration by up to 10%.

The new fully electric pick-up features the D-Max Rough Terrain Mode for exceptional off-road capability, with ground clearance of 210 mm, water wading up to 600 mm, and impressive off-road approach and departure angles of 30.5 degrees and 24.2 degrees respectively.

The New Isuzu D-Max EV is available in Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations with eDL40 and eV-Cross trims levels featuring leather/high-grade cloth interiors. Standard features include Rough Terrain Mode; dual-zone climate control; heated seats; front and rear parking sensors; Bi-LED headlights; 7” driver information display; and eight-year, 125,000-mile battery warranty. Both eDL40 and eV-Cross are offered in Splash White with optional premium colours including Dolomite White pearl on the eV-Cross.

Prior to its official right-hand drive UK debut, the Isuzu D-Max EV has already been trialled in left-hand format: Isuzu UK, in partnership with National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), put the EV pick-up to the test in the most challenging UK terrains and conditions, including towing and winching.

Managing Director of Isuzu UK, Alan Able, said:

“The New Isuzu D-Max EV arrives in the UK, and for the first time in its segment provides the option of a fully electric pick-up with class-leading commercial capabilities. The new electric vehicle assures the reliability, comfort and versatility of the D-Max while supporting commercial operators aiming towards decarbonisation. This is an exciting moment for both Isuzu UK and hardworking commercial and fleet operations in many environments: The New Isuzu D-Max EV combines the work-ready toughness, durability and presence expected of the Isuzu D-Max with a zero emissions electric vehicle for the first time.”

The New Isuzu D-Max EV comes with five-year, 125,000-mile vehicle warranty and EU and UK roadside assistance. Deliveries commence May 2026.
