John N Dunn Group has delivered the mechanical and electrical (M&E) installation for Advance Northumberland at a 13-bungalow, dementia-friendly housing development, in Lyndon Walk, Blyth.
The scheme was shortlisted in the 2026 Northern Housing Awards.
The development forms part of a specialist affordable housing scheme, led by Northumberland County Council, designed to support residents living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, enabling independent living within a safe, supported environment. The bungalows are intended for affordable rent and are allocated through a process led by the council’s Adult Social Care service.
Advance Northumberland, the development arm of Northumberland County Council, delivers housing and regeneration schemes across the county, working in partnership with stakeholders to bring forward new homes and revitalise sites in line with local housing needs, with a strong focus on affordable and specialist housing provision.
Working as part of the wider project delivery team, John N Dunn Group was responsible for the full internal plumbing, heating and electrical installations across all 13 homes. The scope included the installation of air source heat pumps, provision for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, air conditioning, MVHR (mechanical ventilation heat recovery) and an external lighting scheme designed to improve safety, accessibility and ease of movement across the site.
The wider development incorporates additional design features and low-carbon technologies delivered by other project partners, including assistive technology and energy efficiency measures designed to support independent living and reduce environmental impact.
John N Dunn Group is a long-established building services contractor, founded in 1893 and headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne. In recent years, it has focused on low-carbon and renewable technologies, supporting clients in delivering more energy-efficient and sustainable buildings.
Lee Haddock, managing director, North East office at John N Dunn Group, said: “This is a carefully considered scheme delivered to an exceptional standard by Advance Northumberland.
“Our team was responsible for the full M&E installation across all 13 bungalows, including low-carbon heating systems, air conditioning, MVHR (mechanical ventilation heat recovery) and EV charging provision. It was excellent to see the project recognised with a Northern Housing Awards shortlisting, reflecting the quality of the collaboration and delivery across the scheme.”
The Lyndon Walk development reflects a wider programme of innovative supported housing delivery in Northumberland, combining accessible design, energy efficiency and specialist care provision to meet the needs of an ageing population.
