Set within the 200 acres of woodland lakes and gardens at Swinton Park Hotel, Luminescence is once again transforming the historic landscape into an immersive after-dark experience. A mile-long trail of imaginative light installations will lead visitors through a series of otherworldly realms, elemental landscapes and fantastical worlds, bringing the gardens to life under the moonlight.

This is the second year that the event is taking place, which promises even more than before with the introduction of eleven new attractions. The lakeside firepit seating area has also doubled in size.

Visitors can travel through a series of captivating scenes, each designed to transport them into a different setting and promise moments of discovery around every corner. These include the magical Birdcage Walk, where guests can wander amongst 100 illuminated birdcages accompanied by birdsong and Swinton’s very own Hollywood, where guests can walk amongst the stars at A Night at the Oscars, complete with chandeliers and paparazzi.

Families can also discover playful installations and interactive moments along the way, with the opportunity to Make a Wish at the illuminated wishing tree and discover the End of the Rainbow, to name but a few. Toasting marshmallows by the fire with a hot chocolate (and mulled wine for the grown-ups!) completes the experience.

Guests can also extend their visit with the choice of cream tea, lunch, dinner or drinks in the grandeur of the castle at Swinton Park or at the more contemporary Terrace in the Swinton Country Club.

Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, the co-owner of Swinton Estate and the architect behind the Luminesce Trail said, ‘We welcomed over 8000 guests last year during our first season and this year promises even more than before for guests staying on the Estate or visiting for the day. This brings the dark winters evenings to life – we’re really looking forward to it.”

Designed for visitors of all ages, Luminescence offers an immersive outdoor experience, inviting guests to wrap up warm and explore Swinton’s gardens as they are transformed into a captivating landscape of light and colour.
