Charity fundraisers from Forget Me Not children’s hospice met with representatives of MCard to collect goody bags that will be essential for corporate fundraising teams in their forthcoming Race Across West Yorkshire: The Ultimate Adventure.

Inspired by the BBC's Race Across the World, the event on Friday April 17th will see 20 teams of two racing around West Yorkshire solving clues, completing challenges and raising money for Forget Me Not.

The teams will set off at the crack of dawn from event sponsor RRG Toyota’s showroom on Leeds Road. They’ll be driven to a secret location where they will have to surrender their mobile phones. Each team will be given a bag containing travel tickets donated by MCard, giving teams unlimited travel on any bus or train across West Yorkshire, a map, snacks and drinks and a small amount of money to buy food through the day. The teams are not allowed to use phones or pay for taxis. They can only travel using public transport, their feet and their initiative.

Last year Forget Me Not’s Race Across West Yorkshire was a huge success, raising over £42,000 for the charity’s vital work supporting babies and children with life-shortening conditions and their families across West Yorkshire.

Event organisers Michelle Heaney Firth, from the Corporate Partnership team at Forget Me Not and Steve Kirby, Aftersales Manager at RRG Toyota Huddersfield joined John Henshall from MCard at Leeds Bus Station for a handing over ceremony.

John Henshall, General Manager at MCard said:
“MCard is delighted to support Forget Me Not Children's Hospice again this year with its Race Across West Yorkshire. Last year participants praised the helpfulness of fellow passengers, as well as drivers, conductors and other staff who keep West Yorkshire moving every day, and I am sure everyone will be happy to help this year's teams again as they embark on their Ultimate Adventure."

Michelle Heaney Firth, Corporate Partnership Volunteer at Forget Me Not said:
“We can’t wait til this year’s Race Across West Yorkshire. All the teams in 2025 had the most fabulous time and got a wonderful reception as they travelled round West Yorkshire in their Forget Me Not hoodies, not least from the many helpful staff on public transport they encountered along the way. The journey through the day will definitely not be smooth- we’ve made sure it’s challenging! But the generous donations from MCard will ensure that our participants can navigate without the use of a mobile phone and hop on and off public transport easily.”
