Mother Shipton’s Halloween Haunted Village

The ancient attraction where the Yorkshire Prophetess Mother Shipton was born opened their Halloween Haunted Village this weekend, which runs through to their final day of the year on the 1st of November.

Halloween, like most things, is a little different this year for all of us. Many people won’t be trick-or-treating this season, but Mother Shipton’s is still celebrating in style with props, skeletons and witches hiding in the woodland and daily fancy dress competitions, which this year will be judged online via social media. Many families have dressed up and got into the Halloween spirit already, even with matching face masks for stepping inside the museum and gift shop. The attraction is dog friendly, and some visitors decided to dress their dogs too!

Mother Shipton’s Cave has been open to visitors for 390 years this year and brought home the Tourism Award from the Harrogate Advertiser Business Awards last week. The Halloween event is open for pre-booked tickets only, and their first weekend has been a spooky sensation.

What better place to spend Halloween than at the birthplace of a ‘real witch’? Petrifying!

All safety measures in place, lots of space for picnics and the adventure playground is included in admission.
